Is it exploitative if you use a ridiculously charming yet mentally-disabled person to win a short film festival?
The winner's video is nowhere to be found except in the coming weekend paper, but this was shown after the final film of the night was shown. Then everyone continued to walk pass the Big Issue vendors and the homeless guys without a second look.

Strategic Buying During An Economic Downturn
I'm preparing and finalising some buying within a few minutes and hoping that the best choices were made. Is it something that needs serious qualifications and training, or just experience and knowing your market, their buying patterns and such? I guess it depends on the scale (buying for Myer as opposed to buying for a tiny boutique shop).

During an economic downturn, people tend to have less to spend and will start looking at cheaper alternatives and/ or dropping luxury goods. Therefore, choice of buying should be based on:
- Following basic buying principles (matches your business product mix, ability to complement across the store, ease of merchandising and branding, etc.)
- Higher affordability for both the consumers and the retailer
- Higher in value (getting more out of their dollar)

Skins Season 3 underway
Skins Season 3 Promo Group Shot
Season 3 of Skins started mid-January and I completely missed it! Caught up really quick (was only behind 4 episodes?). It's ridiculously trashy yet lovable teenage angst.
- Completely new cast to seasons 1 & 2 (with the exception of Effie and Pandora)
- Always wicked music (they played a Boards of Canada track in Episode 5 of all things, and a bit of Pink Floyd in Episode 3 or 4)
- From what I have gathered so far, plot-lines include: a fucked-up guy without a sense of responsibility, a ridiculously pretty skater boy who is obviously in the show for more then just his looks, lesbians, loads of promiscuity and a lovely romance between a virgin outcast and a lovely African boy
